In 1990, Charles (“Charlie”) E. Rutherford and John T. Mulhall III started the law firm that would
become known as Rutherford Mulhall, P.A. (“RM”). RM traces its origins back to 1973 when
Charlie relocated to this area to continue his law practice, making RM one of the oldest firms in the

Charles E. Rutherford, President and Managing Principal
Charles E. Rutherford relocated to South Florida in 1973 to continue his practice. He is a co-founder of the law firm and has served as its President and Managing Principal since its inception. His areas of specialization include Estate Planning, Probate, Trust and Guardianship Law, Real Estate Law and Corporate Law. Charlie is rated AV Preeminent, indicating the highest level of professional excellence, through Martindale Hubbell's Peer Review Rating system. Charlie was born in Detroit, Michigan. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan (B.A.) and Wayne State University (J.D.), where he was a member of the National Moot Court Team. He is admitted to The Michigan Bar, The Florida Bar and The Colorado Bar. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Michigan, the U.S. District Court, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, and the U.S. Tax Court. Charlie is and has been very involved in the business community. He was named as a Palm Beach County Ultimate CEO by South Florida Business Journal in 2009. He was also named 2005-2006 Business Leader of the Year by the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce and is a former Board member of that Chamber as well as a continuing Trustee. Charlie is the Past Chair of the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County (2005-2006), where he continues as a Board Member. He is a Board Member of the Alzheimer's Association Southeast Florida Chapter. He is a former Board Director of the Economic Council of Palm Beach County and former General Counsel, a member of the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce, a member of BLU-PAC and a member and Director of BIZPAC. Active in the legal community, Charlie is a member of the Palm Beach County, South Palm Beach County, North Palm Beach County and American Bar Associations, where he is a member of the Business Law Section, Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section, and the Law Practice Management Section. He is also a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section and Business Law Section of The Florida Bar. He is a Founding Director of the Gold Coast Chapter of the International Association of Financial Planners and is a member of the East Coast Estate Planning Council, the Boca Raton Estate Planning Council, the Palm Beach Estate Planning Council and the Planned Giving Council of Palm Beach County. Civically and charitably oriented, Charlie has served as Chairman of the United Way, is a former member of the YMCA Board and Executive Committee and Campaign Chair for the Boca Raton American Red Cross Chapter. He is currently Chair of the Schmidt Family Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park, Inc., and its Festival of the Arts/Boca. After an absence, Charlie rejoined the Florida Atlantic University Foundation Board last year. Charlie and his wife, Ann, have both long been active supporters of the Boca Raton Historical Society, and, along with the Shuffs and Wargos, founded Boca Bacchanal, an international food and wine Festival which from its first year has been recognized as one of the best in the United States. Rutherford Mulhall, P.A. from inception has committed financial and personal resources to many charities and organizations throughout Palm Beach County. Today those commitments touch over 60 organizations. In addition to ones mentioned above, a few of the many others are the YMCA, Children's Place at Home Safe, Take Stock in Children, Florence Fuller Child Development Center, Friends of Abused Children, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Junior League of Boca Raton, George Snow Scholarship Fund, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, the Alzheimer's Association, the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County, the Boca Raton Community Hospital Foundation, the Hispanic Human Resources Council, Spirit of Giving, Gulfstream Goodwill Industries, Inc., Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beach and the FAU Foundation. John T. Mulhall III, Vice-President, is a co-founder of the firm and is the head of the Litigation Department. His areas of concentration are Litigation, Marital and Family Law and Appellate Practice. He possesses an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell. John was born in Philadelphia and raised in the suburbs of Rochester, New York. He attended St. Lawrence University, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and the Varsity Swim Team, and The Dickinson School of Law of The Pennsylvania State University. While at Dickinson Law, John met his future wife, Lisa. After marrying in 1987, the Mulhalls moved to Boca Raton. Two and a half years later, John and Charlie Rutherford started Rutherford Mulhall, P.A. John is the Head of the Litigation Practice Group at RM, concentrating his practice in Marital and Family Law. He also has extensive appellate practice experience and chairs that practice group. John has personally handled over 80 appeals in the Florida and federal appellate courts. John is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell, the highest rating given to attorneys by that distinguished publisher of legal directories. For over 21 years, Rutherford Mulhall has been providing its clients with results- and resolution-oriented legal representation. The firm's team of professionals are dedicated to developing and implementing practical and cost-effective solutions to their clients. John is a co-founder of the Peaceful Divorce Project, a multi-disciplined group of professionals who have dedicated themselves to pursuing the amicable resolution of family law disputes where possible. John brings his trial skills - education, analysis, preparation, counseling and advocacy - to each case, with the goal of provoking his clients and their spouses to work cooperatively - rather than antagonistically - toward resolution. John is very active in the community. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce. He is a past Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Children's Place at Home Safe, a nonprofit organization that provides residential, foster and therapeutic care to abandoned, abused and neglected children, and Immediate Past Chief Volunteer Officer of the YMCA of South Palm Beach County. Robert L. Wunker, Executive Vice-President
Robert L. Wunker, Executive Vice-President, joined RM in March of 1997. He is head of several Practice Groups including Banking & Finance, Foreclosure and Real Estate Law groups. Bob is rated AV Preeminent, indicating the highest level of professional excellence, through Martindale Hubbell's Peer Review Rating system. Bob was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 2, 1943. He is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati (B.A., cum laude, 1965; J.D., 1968), and became a member of The Florida Bar in 1974. Bob is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida including Trial Bar, Middle District of Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit, the U.S. Supreme Court, Court of International Trade and Federal Court of Appeals. He concentrates his practice in the areas of Banking and Mortgage Law, Commercial Litigation, Corporate Law, Real Estate and International Law. He has authored "How the International Sale of Goods is Affected by the Convention for International Sale of Goods Differently than the UCC Affects Domestic Sales," International Law Quarterly, Winter, 1996; "International Arbitration: Selecting Appropriate Means," International Law Quarterly, Summer, 1995; and "The Laws of Vietnam Affecting Foreign Investment," The International Lawyer, Summer, 1994. Bob is a member of the American Bar Association (Member: Business Law Section, International Law Section), The Florida Bar and the Commercial Law League of America. He served on the Board of Advisers for Lawyers' Title Services Inc. of Broward County (1978-1984), and was a member appointed by the Governor of Florida to the Florida Foreclosure Study Commission (1991). Stanley Dale Klett, Jr., Executive Vice President, joined RM in May of 2003. He is Board Certified in Business Litigation and is rated AV Preeminent, indicating the highest level of professional excellence, through Martindale Hubbell\'s Peer Review Rating system. Stan was born in Akron, Ohio on March 21, 1959. In 1984, he was admitted to The Florida Bar and the U.S. District Court, Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. He concentrates his practice in the areas of Commercial Litigation and Foreclosure and Lien Law. He is a graduate of the University of Florida, where he earned his B.A. in 1981 and his J.D. in 1984. He has been a member of the Palm Beach County Bar Association since 1986 (Past President, 2004-2005, Board of Directors, 1999-2005), The Florida Bar (Member and Past Chairman, Liaison Committee, and Law Day Committee) and Craig S. Barnard American Inn of Court LIV since 1999 (Co-Chair, Mentoring Committee, 2002-2004). Stan is a lecturer and author of seminar materials for National Business Institute Seminar on foreclosure issues and collections. He is also a member of the North County Section of the Palm Beach County Bar Association, where he has been on the Board of Directors since 1994 and its Past President. He is the current Chairman, on the Board of Directors and Past Treasurer of the Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation, since 1994. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Schwarz Enterprises and is the Vice President of Friends of Abused Children, a non-profit corporation that raises funds and assists abused and neglected children. John R. Banister, Vice President, joined RM in June of 2005. John is Board Certified in Real Estate Law by the Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education, and is Rated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell, indicating the highest level of professional excellence, through Martindale Hubbell's Peer Review Rating system. John was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on May 18, 1955. His practice areas include Corporate Law, Real Estate, General Commercial, Civil and Probate Litigation, Mortgage Law, Guardianship and Estate Administration. John was admitted to The Florida Bar and the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida, in 1980. He graduated from Saint Andrews (1973), Florida State University (B.S., 1977, with honors, Beta Gamma Sigma), Oxford University - International Law (1978), and Nova Southeastern University (J.D., 1980).
